Whew, transportation will take it outta ya here! I can’t complain as I’m a lot closer to my banking town than many of my fellow PCV’s but I would just like to mention my journey home last week.
When I was first installed at my site, PC staff gave me a ride from Singida to Ihanja in a Landcruiser. The trip took approximately 50 minutes. That same trip last week took me from 2:30 to 8:45 pm. The following is an illustration of what it takes to get home during the rainy season here:
This is my bus (or excuse for one). It’s constantly out of commission being repaired. On any given day as to whether or not I’ll be able to make it to town is always a coin toss:
When Kinanda-the name of my bus- is out of comish, we sometimes can arrange to have a daladala or minibus serve as a substitute:
But when it rains hard my road to my ville turns to this:

I swear it’s an adventure everytime I leave Ihanja!
